Zamberlan Boots – Fit like old friends

New hiking boots can be a pain, in the literal sense during the break-in period. On our trip last week to White Rim I had a new pair of boots from Zamberlan, the 967 LHSA, and I planned to wear them for the trip while both driving and hiking. Committing to a new pair of boot like this can be very risky if they need a break-in period.

When I first slid my feet into the Zamberlan boots they felt old friends. I knew that I was not going to have any problems with the boots and I wore them from dawn till dusk and they felt great.

In the cooler temperatures the boots kept my feet nice and toasty. We spent some_B188042 time rock scrambling around a slot canyon and the traction on the sandstone was fantastic. For the hikes the boots provided great support and I loved the additional ankle protection of the 10” high tops.

For warm summer trip into the Desert these boots will be a little warm so I will also be looking to get a pair of 10” high desert boots.

I rank these boots tops in both fit and performance.

  1. The Zamberlan Website points to retailers here in the US. The Boots that I am wearing cost around $340. I know this is a lot but these boot will last a long time and will be good through numerous resoling. I have another pair of Italian made boots that I finally wore out after 8 years of heavy use and 4 pairs of soles. This is a more traditional way to purchase boots that can be maintained.
