LiteSPOTs Rock Lights – A First Look
Rock lights provide lighting under the vehicle to assist with spotting and negotiating obstacles after dark. The objective is to light the area around the tires and under the vehicle so the spotter can see what is going on. The lights also can assist with nighttime repairs.
OffRoadOnly sells a line of rock lights that are based on LED technology called LiteSPOTs. The lights are designed to be water proof and provide a good flood pattern to fill the area under the vehicle with light. A kit of LiteSPOTs includes 6 lights, wiring, a switch and associated connectors. By utilizing LED technology the lights draw few amps and do not require a relay or large wires.
Each lights consist of 3 LEDS and associated components surface mounted on a PC board that is then encased in solid polyurethane. Each light has a magnet for easy mounting on sheet metal as well as a screw hole for more permanent mounting.
The system should provide for a clean and simple install. Look for a future post on the install and function of these cool lights.
Hey…Thanks for all the info! I recently purchased a slightly used 2008 FJ that had been customized quite a bit. I was not really looking for a customized version, but it was a good deal and a really nice vehicle….so…I’ve been scouring the web to determine what all has been altered. I had no idea that there were so many options and why I might prefer one over another, so your site has been a big help (I have yet to see anybody else with the same funky custom wheel wells). I had’t planned to do much in the way of serious off roading, but I do have a log cabin that my family built at around 9000 feet on the edge of the Pecos wilderness area of NM (about 90 inches of snow right now, and the roads are never maintained very well during any season). Now I’m sort of looking forward to taking the FJ up to the old place…maybe even before the snow melts. It will give me a good reason to go more often.
