3 FJs, 6 People and 9 passes – 9 in 2009 summer adventure

For our 2009 summer adventure we decided to complete a 9 pass tour of the central Colorado Rockies.  The trip consisted of 3 FJs 6 people and the 9 passes.

Our goal was to take a circuitous route through the Rockies crossing the Continental Divide 4 times as we crested; Old Monarch Pass, Tomichi Pass, Hancock Pass, Tincup Pass, Taylor Pass, Pearl Pass, Schofield Pass, Hagerman Pass, and Mosquito Pass.

Our Friends Dale and Shirley as well as a friend of theirs, George, joined up for this adventure. We gathered in Colorado Springs on July 24 where we discussed the route and made the last minute preparations.

This is a trip that I have wanted to do for some time. When I was about 7 years old my father, who passed this last year, took us on a similar trip that covers a number of the same passes. Look for post and pictures from this trip over the next few weeks.
