Safari Snorkel Installed

This morning I installed my new Safari Snorkel on our 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser. ARB does not spec the snorkel for the 2010 but the SS415HF Snorkel can be made to fit.

To get the Snorkel to work on the 2010 there are a few different steps that must be taken.  First remove the Air Box from the FJ. Once removed the fender fitting must be removed from the box.

The centering tab needs to then be removed from the air box so the rubber tube fits tight.

The snap tabs will help the rubber snorkel tube stay in place.

The rubber tube can now be fitted to the air box. A larger hose clamp will be needed to clamp the tube in place. The angle in the tube needs to point up. The fitting on the air box is larger than the 2009 fitting so the tube needs some effort to stretch it over the 2010 air box.

The installation went very smooth. I recommend that replacement screw inserts be used for the fender liner. These inserts are easiest to remove if the heads are just cut off.

  1. Thanks for the valuable info and pics–just ordered my snorkel for 2010 FJ. Where is best place to get replacement screw inserts for fender liner?

    1. Called the local dealer about replacement screw inserts for the fender liner that you had mentioned. They seemed like they were not sure how many and what they were actually. Do you know how many that may have to be replaced if they actually do knock the heads off like you mentioned? My snorkel will be here tomorrow and install is scheduled for Friday. Thank you!

      1. FYI for anyone who wants to buy replacement clips for the fender liner….Toyota part # 90189-A0002 $1.05 apiece. Got mine at the dealer just in case a few get damaged. Tomas–thanks for the 2010 install pics and info!
