Rock Art at Castle Gardens, Wyoming

Looking for treasures on our summer vacation to Wyoming we found Castle Gardens. (BLM Site) Leaving Shoshoni we headed east on Highway 26 for about 22 miles where we made a right on Castle Garden Road.  Castle Garden road is a graded dirt road that we headed south of about about 14 miles where we found a sign for Castle Gardens.

A left took us 5 miles along a 1 lane dirt track to the parking area for Castle Gardens. The parking area was nestled between the yellow sandstone cliffs.

Castle Gardens is named for the otherworldly sandstone spires that take on the look of castles and their spires that fill the small valley. Walking through the garden we found many of the wonderful shield carvings created by ancestral Native Americans.
