I have spent lots of time working on refining our expedition camping gear. I will detail what gear we use and why in a number of post. I hope that you can learn from our experiences.
I figured I should add a post for my home built ARB Fridge slide. I have been using this slide for a year and it has functioned flawlessly. The slide is built using 100 lb. drawer slides that are fastened to the floor of the FJ with bolts. The tray is fabricated out of 2″…
I have owned my Toyota FJ Cruiser for over two years and spent lots of time considering what I wanted for lighting. Roof mounted off-road lights are a valuable tool when running at night. They allow you to see over obstacles that would be in shadow if only lit by lights on the bumper or…
For some time I have been running 2 inexpensive HID driving lights from Checker on the front of my Toyota FJ Cruiser. The pattern from these lights was not very well directed down the road even though they did seem to fill the area right in front of the FJ with light. I also had…
Partner stoves are built to last a life time or more. As with any quality piece of equipment, it may need maintenance or repairs. The stove that came as a part of my Kanz kitchen box showed problems this last trip, the fuel hose fitting attached to the stove had started leaking. This led me…
We got packed and out of camp by 9:20 this morning. We had a long day ahead of us. Our first destination was the dinosaur track way at the start of the Colet top road. The tracks took a little time to find but once in the right area we could see them all…
How do you make a good product even better? By listening to your customers. This is what All Pro Off Road did with their front bumper for the Toyota FJ Cruiser. I have been running the original All Pro Front Bumper on my FJ Cruiser for the last 3 years and I have been very…

Hi Good day,
I own a Land cruiser 80 series 4.2 diesel and use it for hard core off roading, beach/fishing etc. Appreciate if you could advise we low cost recovery gear etc. Do have a modified Suzuki Gypsy jeep altered/short line the samurai. More interested in camping gears & offroading kits etc.
Basic recovery gear should include a Hi-Lift jack and accessories. If you do not have a winch I recommend the Hi-Lift Off-Road Kit which allows the Hi-Lift to be used as a winch. Also add 20′ of Gr70 Transport chain to the kit. Also be sure to carry a snatch strap.
