Italian Creek Road

As a part of our Labor Day Foray we decided to close the loop back to Taylor Park. Here are a few picture and some notes on the drive.

The Italian Creek road runs from Cement Creek Road to Taylor Park and is a moderate high clearance 4wd road. Italian Creek is Access from the Reno Divide Road.  Reno Divide road climbs out of Cement creek through the wonderful stand of pine trees.

Once the road summits the left turn goes towards the top of Reno Divide and straight ahead is Italian Creek Road. Unless you are ready for a very hairy section with lots of exposure, do not take Reno Divide.

The Italian Creek road traverses through a number of drainage’s as is heads east towards Taylor Park. The view south is fantastic.

From the Italian Creek Road we could see the difficult section of Reno Divide. There was a Van off the road in the boulder field.

  1. I want to go from Crested Butte to Aspen, which route do you recommend? I want to go over the mountain and not around, preferably over Pearl Pass. Too Rough for my Mercedes ML 350 with AWD and a Low option?

    For this summer.

    1. IN the vehicle that you are driving I would not take Pearl or Schofield. They both need high clearance 4wd. Going over Kebler is a wonderful drive with the largest Aspen grove in the world.
