Jeep Recovery

While of taking pictures of out Toyota FJ Cruiser, the White Knight, above Colorado Springs this last weekend I had the opportunity to help a fellow traveler get back on the road. A couple in a 2 wheel drive jeep had attempted to turn around by pulling down hill off a jeep road. The Jeep was high centered and point directly down hill.

For the recovery I could have used a strap but I would have had to drag them sideways and who knows what would have happened. I chose instead to employ the winch using a pulley block to redirect the winch line and pull them straight back onto the road.

The recovery used the winch, a tree strap, one pulley block and 2 shackles. The jeep had a tow hitch installed that I used as the recovery point.

All said the recovery took about 30 minutes after which I sent a happy couple on their way.
