I got a call from the dealer today about my throw out bearing noise. It sounds like Toyota they had a batch of bell housing where the sleeve that the t-o bearing runs on was milled a little off. The aluminum sleeve is shown in the photo and you can see how it has been damaged. The bearing chatters on the sleeve which is what causes the noise. A new bell housing is on order and it should be a permanent fix to the problem
After 6 years of use my Baja Designs Soltek Fuego lights are in need of help. The reflectors in the lights are starting to show signs of corrosion. With the lifetime warranty that Baja Designs offers the lights have been pulled and are now being returned to Baja Designs for service or replacement. More later…

I live in Los Angeles and it has been almost a year since I bought my FJ. Haven’t made time to take it offroading yet but I’ve been having the same issue with the T-O bearing and I would like to know if Toyota paid for the parts and repairs or is it going to come out of my pocket to get this fixed? Any feedback is appreciated.

got a new bell housing and TO bearing on my 08 tacoma 6 spd RA60 manual 6500 miles ago at 14.5K miles 21,000 miles total on the truck and now the chirp is back. what is the probability that both bell housings were off ? I hope toyota is working on a real fix for their RA60 6sp manuals not just parts replacement
I wanted to add that the explanation was “90-w release bearing damaged bell housing due to lack of lubrication galling release bearing slide.” Fix : “removed transmission and replaces bell housing and release bearing”

My understanding was that they were also redesigning the bell housing to have a steel sleeve for the TO bearing to run on.
So, it’s been awhile since your fix – how is it holding up. Can you give an update. Mine is making the chirp noise and it’s an ’08 TT. Thanks
So far things seem to be working well.
I’m on my second throw out bearing replacement on a 2008 FJ, just had it replaced and I still have throw out bearing noise when the clutch is let out in nuetral, Servioce manager says they all make that noise, nothing wrong…yeah right!
